Summary:

Observational study in type 2 diabetes patients with CVD to evaluated the risk of critical arrhythmias related to glycemic variability.

Key Findings:

Arrhythmia burden higher in high-risk hypoglycemia group (Type 2 diabetes + documented CVD treated with insulin and/or sulfonylurea) compared to low-risk hypoglycemia group (Type 2 diabetes + CVD treated with metformin and/or DPP-4 inhibitors)

- 33% had PVC triplets and 16.7% had VT, all but 1 asymptomatic.

Nocturnal hypoglycemia occurred twice as often as daytime events and aligned with more severe ventricular arrhythmias.
