Summary:

Post hoc analysis of AFOTS study looking at recurrent AF during hospitalization for noncardiac surgery or medical illness using 1 or 2 14-day ECG monitors.

Key Findings:

  • 1.6 % AF dx by end of first 14 days and in 28.8 % of participants dx w/ AF by the end of the second 14-day.
  • >80 % of recurrent AF events are captured after 2 days of monitoring; compared to 2-day recordings, 14-day monitors are nearly 4 times as likely to detect recurrent AF.
