Prospective pilot study at ED in Scotland that discharged adults with unexplained syncope with a 14-day ambulatory patch ECG monitor (Zio XT), and compared diagnostic yield, compliance, and outcomes with a historical syncope cohort managed without patch monitoring.

Key Findings:

90-day diagnostic yield for symptomatic significant arrhythmia was 10.5%in those receiving 14-day ECG monitor vs 2 % in control group

27.9% of patients had a significant arrhythmia, 30.2% had serious outcomes, 61% rule out rate
